India’s Omicron tsunami, tally rises to 961, daily Covid-19 cases spike up by 13,154
NEW DELHI: Omicron variant is driving a dangerous tsunami of Covid-19 cases, reported 13,154 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry said on Thursday.
The tally of Omicron cases has risen to 961, with the largest case were reported from Delhi (263) and Maharashtra (252). The variant has now been detected from 22 states of India.
The ministry reported that the active cases in the country stand at 82,402 constituting 0.24 per cent of the total cases.

Currently, the recovery rate stands at 98.38 per cent, He added.
As per data, Delhi’s Health Minister Says 46% of total Covid-19 cases are of Omicron Variant. Jain also said that 46 of 115 samples sequenced in the national capital so far had tested positive for the new strain. Delhi has reported the largest number of Omicron cases so far — 263.
