India’s COVID-19 cases cross 27,553-mark in last 24 hrs, Omicron tally rises to 1,525
NEW DELHI: India reported 27,553 Covid-19 cases in a single day on Sunday. In all, 1,525 cases of the Omicron variant have been reported across 23 states and Union Territories so far, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data on Sunday.
Maharashtra topped the list with 460 cases, followed by Delhi at 351, Tamil Nadu 117 and Gujrat 136 cases as of January 2.
India’s active cases currently stand at 1,22,801 and also recorded 9,249 recoveries in the past 24 hrs, as per the ministry data updated.

The weekly positivity rate was also recorded at 1.35 per cent, according to the ministry.
The death toll has climbed to 284, the data showed. A total of 68 crore Covid-19 tests have been conducted in country so far.
As per PIB, More than 152.31 Crore vaccine doses were provided to States/UTs so far, and 19.81 Crore balance and unutilized vaccine doses still available with States.
