India reports 58,097 new Covid-19 cases, 534 deaths in 24 hours
New Delhi: India reported 58,097 new Covid-19 cases and 534 deaths in the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry reports on Wednesday.

With 15,389 recoveries, the active cases in the country stood at 2,14,004. In the wake of surging Covid cases, Delhi became the first major metro to impose a weekend curfew. Punjab and Karnataka followed suit, imposing weekend curfews as well. In Mumbai, the civic body made the rapid RT-PCR test mandatory for all international passengers landing at the international airport. On Tuesday, the latest Covid numbers in metros were: Delhi (5,481 cases), Mumbai (10,860 cases), Bengaluru (2,053 cases), Kolkata (4,759 cases), Chennai (1,489 cases).
However, As per Ministry, over 147.72 crore vaccine doses have been administered across the nation so far.
