India reports 33,750 new Covid-19 cases, 123 deaths in 24 hrs, Omicron tally crosses 1,700-mark

Maharashtra and Delhi leads Omicron chart with 510 and 351 cases

 NEW DELHI: India reported 33,750 new Covid-19 cases and 123 deaths in the past 24 hours, while Omicron infections stand at 1,700 on Monday, according to the Union Health Ministry data.  

It also recorded 33,750 fresh Covid-19 cases and 123 deaths. With 10,846 recoveries, the country’s active cases stood at 1,45,582. Of the 23 states and Union territories they have recorded Omicron cases so far, Maharashtra has registered the highest number of 510, followed by Delhi 351, Kerala 156, Gujarat 136, and Tamil Nadu 121, according to the data.

As per the PIB, with the administration of 23,30,706 vaccine dose in the last 24 hours, India’s covid-19 Vaccination covered 145.68 crore as per provisional reports.

Reportedly, So far, over 6.35 lakh kids have registered on the CoWIN platform. For now, only Bharat Biotech’s indigenously developed Covaxin will be administered to the teens.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said, India’s vaccination drive received a boost Today, January 3, when it opened up the drive for teens aged 15-18. The  move will protect “Young India from Covid”, said Mandaviya.
