Bathinda: Giani Zail Singh (GZS) School of Architecture and Planning, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda örganised one day online lecture cum webinar on “Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation” here on Friday.
The webinar was a part of the lecture series on the topic of Energy Conservation & Energy Efficiency being conducted in several colleges and universities of the Punjab state. The webinar was attended by students and faculty members of the Department. The event was coordinated by Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) in association with Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and D2O, which is celebrating Energy Conservation Week from 18th February to 26th February 2021.
The objective of the webinar was to provide the students and faculties with an informed choice about the energy savings and cost savings potential of the latest technologies available. The training was meant to provide a comprehensive awareness of energy efficiency in buildings, industries & several sectors. Career prospects or opportunities were also shared with the students.
The faculty advisor for the event was Prof. Ripu Daman Singh, who interacted with PEDA officials to hold the exclusive webinar for the students of the Architecture Department.
Prof. (Dr.) Bhupinder Pal Singh Dhot, Head of Department, GZS School of Architecture & Planning, MRSPTU was the Chief Guest of the event.
In his address, Prof. Dhot talked about the tremendous progress in technology, and the increase in Consumption of energy resulting in our dependence on fossil fuels and electricity. He informed that Energy conservation and efficient newer technologies are what India direly needs today.
The expert speakers, Er. Kushagara Juneja, BEE certified master trainer and Er. Akshat Saxena, professional spoke about the codal provisions of ECBC, Climate related parameters to make a building energy efficient and code compliant, Calculations to evaluate a building Envelope performance, energy demand and various simulation softwares used for Energy Efficiency.
An online quiz was also conducted in which all the faculty members and students participated. The panelists described the participant’s performance in the quiz as excellent.
The GZS School of Architecture and Planning is also in the process of partnering with Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) to explore the possibility of transforming conventionally buildings of MRSPTU campus including all the buildings of Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering & Technology, Bathinda to Nearly Zero Energy Buildings through a study.
Prof. (Dr.) Buta Singh Sidhu, Vice Chancellor, MRPTU, Prof. (Dr.) Savina Bansal, Dean Academics, MRSPTU & Prof. (Dr.) Gurinder Pal Singh Brar, Registrar congratulated GZS School of Architecture and Planning for taking up the cause of Energy Efficiency. The officials also appreciated the faculty and students for fostering a partnership with BEE and PEDA.
