6-Day online FDP Program begins at GZSCCET, Bathinda

Bathinda: Six-Day online Faculty Development (FDP) programme on ” Internet of Things and its Applications”, began at Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering and Technology (GZSCCET), Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda on Monday.

Short term training Programme is being organised by the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering of GZSCCET, MRSPTU.

More than 100-participants amongst Faculty, Research Scholars and Industrial personnel hailing from 13-states of the country have registered for the 6-day online program sponsored jointly by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and MRSPTU.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Col. B. Venkat, Director of Faculty Development Cell of AICTE said that such Programs in the emerging areas of technology play an important role in preparing a dedicated task force at the National level to address Global challenges. He also narrated various schemes of Government of India, which can be used by the technical institutes of the state of Punjab in enhancing their infrastructural capabilities. He also highlighted the various avenues available within the framework of New Education Policy – 2020.

While speaking on the occasion, Professor of ECE and Course Coordinator Dr. R. K. Bansal stressed on the need of grasping knowledge in the upcoming fields through such prograThis shall prepare them to face the upcoming technical challenges for the benefit of human mankind, he said. He gave a clarion call to all participants to leave no stone unturned in preparing the technical young minds who are ready to face unpredictable technical challenges of the future.

Dr. Neeraj Gill, Head Department of ECE highlighted the various activities undertaken by the deptt. in the recent past including starting of B. Tech. Minor Engineering and Honours programs.

Experts from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee; National Institutes of Technology of Allahabad, Kurukshetra, Jalandhar besides from Punjab Engineering College (PEC) Chandigarh, SLIET Longowal, TIET Patiala, Central University of Punjab along with Industry and outside India shall be interacting with the participants over the 6-days.
Er. Barinder Sethi, Vice President, and Business Head VaaaN Infra highlighted role of IoT in Traffic management and Fastag mechanism implemented successfully by the Govt of India. He also explained the various aspects involved in the implementation of the Ahmedabad Smart City Project.

Earlier Nikita Sehgal presented various issues and challenges of IoT devices interfacing with Fog and Cloud Computing.

Dr. Raj Kamal Professor Emeritus interacted on the use of Artificial Intelligence in Industrial IoT scenarios. Dr. R. S. Yadav Professor Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad spoke on the Role of IoT in Cyber Crimes.
IoT is proving a boon for detecting cyber crimes being undertaken in society these days.

Dr. Neeraj Kumar Professor Thapar Institute of Engg & Tech Patiala explained the use of IoT in Traffic management using Convolution Neural network-based frameworks.

MRSPTU, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Buta Singh Sidhu, Dean Academics MRSPTU and Campus Director of GZSCCET, Dr Savina Bansal, Coordinator AICTE-MRSPTU MoU, Dr. Balwinder Singh, and Dr. Gurinder Pal Singh Brar appreciated the efforts of the Deptt of Electronics & Communication Engg for conducting this program not only for the various Constituent and Affiliated colleges of MRSPTU but beyond it.
